Dominican American Living in Medellin i have one thing to say.................. AWESOME CITY! i will choose Medellin 1000 times over Santo Domingo. I spend 5 years living in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and there is no way i will trade Medellin for it, Look Medellin is safer and yet bigger than the Dominican Rep. Capital and business atmosphere is really great. *EN MEDELLIN NO SE VA LA LUZ* and living here is so cheap comparing it to cities like Miami or Santo Domingo. I Suggest everyone to take a one or two weeks trip to Medellin so you can experience the greatness of this city i really love it, by the way there are few Dominican students at Universidad de Antioquia.

Bogota is truly one of Latin America Jewels

Felix Erickxson
I love Republica Dominicana
but hate their governments

OMG - I can't believe that you don't think Bogota is an interesting city! Yes, it's cold at night, but it's a wonderful cosmopolitan city. I've been to most of the major cities in Colombia, my parents are from Medellin, I love Cartagena but they don't take care of this beautiful city, people just throw their garbage on the street or on the beach. Bogota is a lot cleaner, people are educated and it has the best night clubs!

Andrew,

great story. Reminds me of the time I went to San Francisco. It was my first trip to the US and before I went everybody was warning me about:" Don't do this and don't do that." I got off the plane a little "wired" to say the least. But after a short while I thought: "What a fantastic city, what were all those people going on about?"

Then a few days later I crossed street and entered the "tenderloin" It was like entering the twilight zone. I could actually feel something had changed as I crossed the street. The hairs on the back of my neck were standing up, and I had a very bad feeling about the place. I very quickly crossed back and the feeling disappeared.

Relating my experience to a maitre'd at a restaurant that night, she let me know in no uncertain terms that I was lucky to still be alive.

Always trust your gut and, as you say, listen the locals.
